Honoring Our Legacy, Embracing Our Future: St. Clare’s Girls’ School Opening Ceremony
St. Clare’s Girls’ School officially ushered in the 2026–27 academic year on 1 September 2026 with a memorable and uplifting Opening Ceremony. Held in the School Hall, the milestone occasion brought together sisters, students, teachers, and distinguished alumnae to celebrate the school’s rich heritage, reflect on past achievements, and set an ambitious tone for the historic year ahead.
A Solemn and Sacred Start
The ceremony commenced with a solemn Flag Raising Ceremony, instilling a strong sense of unity and national identity across the school community. Following the anthem, Sister Helen led the assembly in a heartfelt opening prayer, invoking divine blessings, guidance, and wisdom for every student and staff member embarking on this special centenary journey.

Words of Wisdom from School Leadership
Ms. Shirley Wong, School Supervisor, delivered an insightful keynote address, challenging students to ask themselves a fundamental question: “What will this year be for ME?” She encouraged girls to cultivate balanced, multi-dimensional personal growth spanning academics, health and wellness, social relationships, family life, and personal passions. Ms. Wong emphasized the importance of effective time management, deep focus, and adaptability, reminding students that self-belief remains the cornerstone of all success.

Building on this message, Principal Mrs. Chan delivered an energizing address under the theme “Reflect on Growth, Flourish with Confidence.” Marking the school's Centenary Anniversary, Mrs. Chan proudly commemorated St. Clare’s 100-year legacy of academic excellence and holistic character formation. She highlighted the outstanding academic achievements of past cohorts and urged current Clarians to honor this proud legacy by striving for new heights, breaking previous records, and pushing beyond their perceived boundaries.
Inspiring Insights from Distinguished Alumnae
Reinforcing the strong bond of sisterhood that defines St. Clare’s, three distinguished alumnae returned to share their personal journeys, offering practical advice and heartfelt encouragement:
• Matilda Ng (2025–26 Student of the Year)
• KaKa Lo (2025–26 Sr. Lorraine Scholarship Recipient)
• Lola Ngo (2025–26 Sr. Lorraine Scholarship Recipient)
The speakers shared fond memories from their school days and detailed how St. Clare’s nurtured their potential and helped them achieve their academic goals. They spoke candidly about overcoming academic challenges, discovering hidden talents, and pushing past limitations through discipline and perseverance. Expressing deep gratitude to their teachers and mentors, they offered inspiring words to their junior sisters, urging them to embrace challenges with courage and cherish every moment of their secondary school journey.

Commissioning Student Leaders
In a symbolic moment acknowledging service, trust, and responsibility, student leaders from the Prefect Board, Student Union, and House Executive Committees were formally pinned with their badges of office. The leaders stood together to swear a solemn oath, pledging to lead with integrity, serve their school community with dedication, and act as role models for their peers.

United in Clarian Spirit
The ceremony concluded with a spirited, joyful rendition of the school song, filling the hall with pride and unity as Clarians united in celebrating 100 years of school spirit.

The 2026–27 Opening Ceremony was more than just the start of a new academic year—it was a powerful reaffirmation of St. Clare’s commitment to raising confident, resilient, and compassionate young women ready to lead and flourish in a rapidly changing world.
